Messi,
a documentary from the renowned Spanish director Alex
de la Iglesia will
premiere on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is
produced
by Mediapro and scheduled in such a way that it is premiered during
the FIFA World Cup 2014 tournament on an off day.
The
documentary is scripted by one of Argentina's greatest soccer star
Jorge
Valdano, and uses historical footage of the only four-time
FIFA/Ballons
d'Or
winner from the age of 4 onwards. The documentary had the patronage
of soccer greats like Maradona, Johann Cruyff, Cesar Luis Menotti,
Andres Iniesta and Alejandro Sabella and others.
Messi
was born to a modest family in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina on
Wednesday, June 24, 1987. He was a quick learner in his early
childhood and a talented player with great future. However, at the
age of 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. The
Spanish club FC Barcelona acknowledged the potential in Messi, and
paid all the bills of his treatment which was quite expensive.
Lionel
Andrés Messi is now a world renowned footballer. He plays for FC
Barcelona as a forward and Argentine National Team as a captain and a
forward. Messi is the first footballer to win four consecutive
FIFA/Ballons
d'Or
and three European
Golden Shoe
awards. He
is presently top ranked player in the world and is considered to be
one of the greatest soccer player of all times. The documentary Messi
is a tribute to the Argentine legend.
